Zippy.com.au is a car insurance comparison website. Launched in 2009, Zippy will enable Australians to find car insurance from multiple brands.
Founded by Gerard Doyle, Zippy is to continue the success of car insurance comparison websites already very popular in the UK.
What does a car insurance comparison site do?
In the past if you wanted to compare insurance policies for different insurance brands you needed to spend hours contacting each insurance company separately or use a broker. Zippy enables you to compare prices and deals from many Australia insurance brands with a few clicks of the mouse.
Is Zippy an Insurance Broker?
No. Zippy is a comparison website- not an insurance broker. We provide you with as much information as we can about the car insurance options available to you, without making any recommendations. You take out your insurance policy with the insurance company directly or through an insurance broker partner – not Zippy.
Brokers and comparison sites may seem like they’re doing a similar job, as each search a number of different insurers; yet they’re radically different beasts. Think of it like searching for the cheapest loaf of bread.
Each individual insurer is like a baker, so your choice is simply to buy the cheapest loaf it offers that fits your characteristics. Brokers are the equivalent to supermarkets; they stock a range of bakers’ loaves and the price they charge depends on their relationship with the supplier. Yet comparison sites are like sending someone to speed round all the supermarkets and bakers to find the cheapest loaf of all of them.
Neither is better or worse than the other, they are different.
How does it work?
You answer a series of questions about you and your car. From this information Zippy will compare insurance premiums from different companies, based on available information. You can the use these results to find the right insurance for you.
Is Zippy independent?
Zippy is not owned by any insurance company. Zippy does however receive commissions from some insurance companies and brokers. This is the money we use to provide you with this service.
The commission Zippy is paid does not change results on this website in any way.
Zippy’s goal is to provide you with unbiased comparitve results to help you make the best informed decision is the quickest possible time.

How does Zippy compare?
We only ask you the questions necessary to compare deals that are right for you. We then present that information in a way so you can quickly and easily choose the best product for you. To get an insurance quote simply enter your details once and we will search deals from our panel of insurance brands to give you a range of quotes.
Do you compare all insurance companies?
Not yet, but we hope we will soon. The list of insurance companies is expanding all the time. Unfortunately not all companies like to be compared in an open market. The more quotes we provide the more likely that we will be able to add new companies
Can you quote for everyone?
Sorry, no. Some times there are reasons we can’t provide you with a quote. While this is rare we will provide you with the phone number of the insurance company to call directly.
How do I take out my car insurance?
Zippy does not provide car insurance. You need to contact the company listed on your quote results page directly. To save time, brands that have partnered with Zippy will not require you to enter the same information again. Insurance companies not partnered with Zippy will require you to answer all questions again. Where possible we will provide the details of an insurance broker who will be able to provide you with a policy for a particular insurance company. Most of Zippy’s partner insurance brokers will not require you to enter your details again.

At Zippy we take your privacy very seriously. We only ever pass your personal details to the insurance companies when you select them. We NEVER pass your details onto third party advertisers.
All the quote data used for our estimates is stored separately from your personal information.
